Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang conducted an official visit to the Delegation of the European Union for Indonesia in Jakarta on April 8, 2026, as part of its strategic efforts to expand engagement in education programs under the European Union.

The UIN Malang delegation was represented by Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Development Prof. Dr. H. M. Abdul Hamid, M.A, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Drs. Basri, M.A., Ph.D, and Head of the International Office Faridatun Nikmah, M.Pd. The delegation was warmly received by Stephane Mechati, Deputy Ambassador of the European Union for Indonesia, along with Destriani Nugroho, Project Officer of the EU Delegation for Indonesia.

During the meeting, UIN Malang conveyed its commitment and strong interest in actively participating in various European Union programs, particularly in the field of higher education. The discussion focused on potential collaborations to support the university’s internationalization agenda and enhance academic quality as well as global mobility for its academic community.

In particular, Destriani Nugroho presented several flagship EU programs accessible to Indonesian higher education institutions, including International Credit Mobility, Lecturer Exchange, and other collaborative education schemes that promote cross-border academic exchange.

The Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Development of UIN Malang emphasized that the visit marks an important initial step in building sustainable partnerships with the European Union. “Active participation in European Union programs will open significant opportunities for UIN Malang students and lecturers to engage at the international level,” he stated.

Through this visit, UIN Malang aims to strengthen its global network, enhance academic mobility, and contribute more broadly to impactful and sustainable international education cooperation.
