Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) Malang held an International Public Lecture titled “Advancing Islamic Scholarship and Religious Moderation for Sustainable Global Impact: Research, Community Service, and Publication Collaboration” at the Rectorate Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, on Wednesday (June 10, 2026).

Organized by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), the event was attended by heads of research centers, lecturers, researchers, postgraduate students, and academics from various faculties. The forum served as a platform to strengthen international academic networks and exchange ideas on the development of moderate Islamic studies with global competitiveness.

The lecture featured two distinguished speakers: Prof. Dr. Rahmah Binti Ahmad H. Osman, Director of Oman Research and Studies Centre Malaysia, and Dr. K.H. Isroqunnajah, M.Ag., Head of LPPM UIN Malang.

In her presentation, Prof. Rahmah emphasized that Islamic higher education institutions have a strategic responsibility to promote peaceful, inclusive, and relevant religious narratives capable of addressing global challenges. She highlighted that international collaboration in research, community service, and scientific publications is essential for strengthening the contribution of Islamic scholarship to global civilization.

Meanwhile, Dr. K.H. Isroqunnajah underscored the importance of fostering a strong research culture within Islamic universities. According to him, research outcomes should not only meet academic standards but also provide tangible benefits to society through the integration of research, community engagement, and scholarly publication as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

The discussion session that followed was highly interactive, with participants raising questions about religious moderation, strategies for increasing publications in reputable international journals, and opportunities for collaborative research between universities in Indonesia and Malaysia.
