
Expanding international cooperation networks to increase employment opportunities for graduates through internship programs and job placements in Japan. This effort was discussed in a coordination meeting with Select Hiroshima Japan, which was held online via Zoom Meeting on Monday (March 9, 2026) from 11:00–12:00 WIB.
The coordination was initiated by the Head of the Career Development Center (CDC) of UIN Malang, Ahmad Ghozi, and facilitated by Herman, a representative provider from Indonesia who is based in Japan.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Rector for Institutional Development and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. H. M. Abdul Hamid, S.Ag., M.A.; the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. H. Triyo Supriyatno, M.Ag.; the Head of the International Affairs Office, Faridatun Nikmah, M.Pd.; and the Head of the Center for Information Technology and Data (PTIPD), Abid Yusron. Also present were the Head of LPM, the team from the Vice Rector for Cooperation, and representatives from Select Hiroshima Japan led by President Director Inatsu San.
The discussion focused on opportunities for international internship programs for final-year students as well as employment opportunities for alumni who have recently completed their studies. The program is expected to become a strategic step in strengthening graduates’ readiness to meet the demands of the global labor market.
The Vice Rector for Institutional Development and Cooperation, Prof. Abdul Hamid, stated that international collaboration is an important strategy to expand the university’s global network while opening opportunities for students to gain international work experience.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Triyo Supriyatno, emphasized that international internship programs not only provide professional experience but also foster work discipline and broaden students’ cross-cultural perspectives.
In his presentation, Inatsu San stated that his company would provide company profiles as references for UIN Malang in mapping competency needs while aligning the curriculum with the needs of industries in Japan.
The internship program offers opportunities in various industrial sectors with high labor demand, including the automotive industry, electronics, food production and processing, as well as the wood industry.
UIN Malang targets the recruitment and interview process for participants to take place from March to April 2026. Through this collaboration, the university hopes to expand graduates’ access to the international labor market while also enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesia’s human resources.
